Dear Pond Families,            

                As we try to navigate our way through the COVID-19 pandemic I would like to inform you that Kern County is still in the purple tier and that means that we have a high number of cases. Pond was able to open for in-person instruction because our waiver was approved. We asked you in a survey to make a choice between in-person or distance learning and from your answers we opened our classrooms to students with the agreement and understanding that we would make very small changes when needed. As part of our covid-19 safety plan we stated that we would not be mixing our students from in-person to distance learning or vice versa. As the school has progressed I have seen students switching back and forth from these two choices and I would like to remind you that for the safety of our staff and students we cannot do that. If you absolutely need to keep your student at home please do and make sure that you inform the office. Please do not leave your child at home to participate in distance learning just because it is convenient for that day or they do not feel like attending school for in-person instruction. Thank you for your continued support on this matter and let’s keep everyone safe, healthy and our school open. Please keep on reminding your student to wear their mask and to keep their social distance at school. Additionally, please check your student for COVID-19 symptoms as they are preparing for school. If they complain of having chills/fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, body aches, headaches, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea please keep them home and monitor them throughout the day. Estimadas Familias de Pond:

Mientras intentamos navegar a través de la pandemia de COVID-19, me gustaría informarles que el condado de Kern todavía se encuentra en el nivel purpura (morado) y eso significa que tenemos una gran cantidad de casos de COVID-19. Pond pudo abrirse para recibir instrucción en persona porque nuestra exención fue aprobada. En una encuesta, le pedimos que eligiera entre aprendizaje en persona o a distancia y,  a partir de sus respuestas, abrimos nuestras aulas a los estudiantes con el acuerdo y entendimiento de que haríamos cambios muy pequeños cuando fuera necesario. Como parte de nuestro plan de seguridad COVID-19, declaramos que no mezclaríamos a nuestros estudiantes de aprendizaje en persona con los de aprendizaje a distancia o viceversa. A medida que el año escolar ha progresado, he observado a los estudiantes cambiar entre estos dos modos y me gustaría recordarles que por la seguridad de nuestro personal y estudiantes no podemos hacer eso. Si absolutamente necesita mantener a su estudiante en casa debido a una emergencia o enfermedad, por favor informe a la oficina. No deje a su hijo/a en casa para que participe en aprendizaje a distancia solo porque sea conveniente para ese día o porque no tenga ganas de asistir a las clases en persona. Gracias por su continuo apoyo en este asuntó y mantengamos a todos seguros, saludables y nuestra escuela abierta. Por favor, continúe recordándole a su estudiante que use su tapabocas y mantenga su distancia social en la escuela. Además, verifique que su hijo/a no presente síntomas de COVID-19 (escalofríos/fiebre, tos, dificultad para respirar, fatiga, dolores corporales, dolores de cabeza, nueva pérdida del gusto u olfato, dolor de garganta, congestión o secreción nasal, náuseas o vómitos o diarrea) mientras se prepara para la escuela. Si se quejan de alguno de estos síntomas, manténgalos en casa y vigílelos durante el día.
